Celebrate good times!

How we party
Daddy & Brody

Daddy & Gracie
Daddy & Madi saying "Pretty"
We rang in the 10pm hour on New Year's Eve with the babies at home. They were so excited to be outside enjoying roasted marshmellows, fourwheeler riding, and partying the night away while sipping apple juice! Those little party animals of ours!!

Happy New Year!!!

What a year it has been! It has been full of many ups and many downs but looking back at the entire year, I must say, we've done well over all. We are all happy, healthy, and successful in our own rights. It is insane at how time passes. I feel like just yesterday we were celebrating the kids' first birthday and here we are and it's been 6 months. Time always bothers me. I always try to really live in the moment, make each day very special with my kids, and even though they are still very young, create memories and traditions. Time is one of the most important things to Ricky and I. We are both very pleased with him working nights because he can spend more time with us. It is very important to have both of us involved with our family.

Count down...

We are just a couple days away from Christmas now... I still am in shock at how fast this year went by!

So HAPPY!

Remember back to September 7th when I shared my new change the world post? If not, here is a run down... We love our Pediatrician and the staff. We totally trust Dr. Leach 100% but there was one bad thing about going to his office, they had no handicap accessible door. After going to battle with the door to fit our over 5 foot stroller through it for a year, I had enough. So I had to contact Texas Children's Hospital's main office, the staff at our Pediatrician's office, and the owner of the buildings. At first the owner didn't really care but I quickly pointed out that there were laws to protect and give rights to those that are handicapped.

Christmas week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read 4 books since Thursday night. I found myself not knowing what to do with the time on my hands that is usually used for school. It's 1am on Monday morning. I stayed up to check out my mini term Government class that stared at midnight. The class is 21 days. I've taken a mini term before and loved it because they compacted the class down to the important stuff and you still got full credit as long as you passed the course. Well, to my horrific discovery, this professor feels like we should do an entire 5 month course load in 21 days. There are a total of 50 assignments due! Looks like a busy 21 days ahead.

Brody Bear

Saturday was a big day for Brody man. He pulled himself up to a stand in his crib for the very first time. You may be asking yourself how we would know that he did this if he was in his crib, in his room, suppose to be asleep. Well, the answer is we were very aware when he started screaming because he fell out of his crib. And I thought he would be scared for life and never want to stand again but luckily, he stood again in Gracie's crib tonight during story time. Looks like Daddy will be lowering two cribs Sunday.
It may be incredibly slow progress but they are making it!

Done for the year!

Today was our last specialist appointment for the year. It feels so great not to do the long drive to the Medical Center.
Gracie had the appointment today. Ricky and I do not feel it is appropriate to share what is going on publicly so our close circle will know if they haven't already.
After Gracie's appointment, she had to have some blood work done. She did so good... she is such a champ!

spare time

I'm finding myself with time on my hands since I've finished up all my classes and waiting on my mini term to start on Monday. It seems so weird! We've been really busy this week so time is going by so fast.
I cannot believe Christmas is 11 days away! Speaking of Christmas, a BIG thank you to my Aunt Judi & Uncle Daryl and Aunt Cathy & Uncle James for sending the kids Christmas money. We went on a family outing to Walmart tonight when Ricky got home from work and bought them some really cool stuff with that money. The biggest greatest thing was a program called My Baby Can Read. Ricky and I are so excited to start this program with the kids. The rest of the Christmas money was transferred into their growing savings accounts which we are very excited to watch grow! It is a huge blessing for their future!
And of course I can never stop myself when at any store when it comes to the kids. We bought a horn that goes on a bike (because Madi loves to honk them), a bouncy ball that lights up, two whistles, and some little sensory thing I really can't explain :)

Don't stop believing

Today started off really bad. We woke up late, 7:19 had to be downtown at 8 for the Neurologist. Didn't get there until 8:45. Thankfully they still took us. Had a good appointment, went to leave and didn't have my wallet. I just knew it must had fallen out and everything was lost! I wanted to throw up the whole way home! Got home and discovered my wallet on the counter!! WHOO HOO!
School is finished and I had all my grades but one class. The class has been so hard because you had to use a specific software and everyone in the class was having problems with it. Last week I had to do the entire class over for a Saturday deadline because everyone's work was gone. To top it all off, I couldn't do the last 4 assignments because the software wouldn't allow it. So I was so stressed out just knowing I was going to fail the class and it wasn't even in my control. I was sick about this for days! Sunday I found out I had a 72 average which was terrible but today after everything including my final was graded, I ended up with a 79.65! I am so happy I passed! Now that I passed, I HATE that grade. I wish it was at least a B. Anyway, my first semester back was really difficult. The kids surgeries and Gracie's ER visit really made it more difficult. I'm happy I'm back in school though. My grades were 1 C, 2 B, 1 A.
I laid the kids down around 11:30 for a nap. Gracie was crying her eyes out about 10 minutes into it which is not like her. I waited 5 more minutes before going in to check on her. When I walked in her room I just screamed.... She was standing in her crib!!!!!!! STANDING!!!!! Not kneeling STANDING. She was crying and though there were tears coming down her face, she knew she did it. She did what they say may never be done... At 17.5 months old, Gracie Ann did it! And all by herself on her terms! The progress may be incredibly slow but it's progress. It makes the situations, the accomplishments so much more rewarding. For Madi most everything comes easy but for my other two, they fight so hard, work so hard and it makes everything we do worth it. I know Gracie will walk. I just feel it. Today was a huge step into that direction. Keep on keeping on Gracie Ann... You little fighter! I love it!
Brody seems to be doing really well visually the past couple days. Last night while I was reading their bed time stories he was so excited and loved looking at the pictures. Another reason why I love that time a day with them- although it is a lot of work by myself :)
When we were finished with our 5 bedtime stories last night, I told Madi to give her bubby a kiss and she did!! I told her give sissy a kiss and she did!!! It was so sweet and the very first time she ever did that . I got the girls situated and when Brody and I were leaving, I told the girls "night, night. I love yall" and Madi stood up and said "bye, bye" and waved, then laid down.... How awesome is my life??? BLESSED for sure! Madi is also blowing kisses now. She really is catching on very quickly.

ENT follow up: The doctor said Gracie is his very first case of the surgery to improve the sound of her voice did not work. He showed pictures of where her cord was clearly moved over and said you can't move it any further because you will close her airway. He said he was sorry he couldn't explain why it didn't work. The plan is to do the major surgery when she is 5 and we will look at reevaluating the situation when she is two. In the meantime, we are going to continue working on sign language.

Neurologist follow up: Both Gracie and Brody are delayed but only time will tell. They are not worried that there is fluid on the brain. We will check back in one year.

Tomorrow is Orthopedic and PM&R.

A picture with Santa

Didn't go so well....

disaster

disaster

we all had to be in the picture in order for Madi to stop crying... i tried to photo shop myself out but couldn't all the way.

We've been trying to take their pictures in these little outfits since the last week of November for Christmas cards. Notice how you don't have one from us yet?? Well that is because it is next to impossible to get a picture with all three! Anyway, we came home and took 83 pictures (today alone) and finally have one that we used for the cards. I was so relieved since I spent time making all of our cards this year! Took it to Walgreens to have it printed only to have their machine do this weird zoom and cut off the top of Brody's head. The girl at Walgreens couldn't figure it out either... I bought the darn pictures anyway and went home to put them together. So frustrating! Honestly, the cards would have been so cute... whatever! You all should be receiving your Christmas card this week.

Ricky and I were talking about how much the kids have grown in the past couple weeks. It's really crazy! They've each perfected their fits. Ricky said "these kids wear me out. not physically" and I quickly finished "but emotionally draining" and we both very quickly agreed. This age is a million times harder then this time last year. And it will only get harder. He and I are looking at going away for the weekend sometime at the beginning of the year to recoup. We've had 1 date night when they were 10 months old and were only gone for 2 hours. I want to be able to catch up on some sleep and not have to do our regular routine. Maybe even do something fun too!

I don't want to sound like we are not thankful for the precious babies because we are. I just think we've not done a good job at balancing out time to recoup and it is finally getting us.

We took the kids to a birthday party on Saturday. I have a friend in our neighborhood that has triplets that turned 3 Saturday. She held their party at a little gym here in Kingwood. Brody and Gracie were not too sure about it but Madi took off away from us to join the big kids. She really never understands that she isn't 3 or 4 years old. They really enjoyed themselves a lot. We went out to eat after. Let me just say that is now near impossible. All 3 of them were WILD! Wild like when you are out in public and you swear your kids "will never act that way". Let me just say to those who don't have kids yet, don't ever say that. They were not screaming or anything but the mess they make. I feel half bad about leaving like that but secretly I'm happy we are able to leave without cleaning up since I get to clean disasters like that at every. single. meal.

And because I've figured life isn't crazy enough, I bought $50 worth of Crayolas for $7 at Toys R Us Saturday morning. We are now starting to color. Yep, I've completely lost my mind! I'm starting to worry because they are not in a daycare program and the only downside to that is not getting a consistent curriculum. I want to still be able to teach them skills that they will need to have a head start when starting school. I do think next August we will put them in a preschool program.. not sure how we will pay the $700 per month tuition but we pretty much have to figure it out. My friend with the 3 year old triplets taught her kids to read... they seriously read- read at just now 3! That is so awesome!

We have a very busy week ahead. Tomorrow we will meet with Gracie's ENT about her surgery not working. Ricky is going with me because we are both very unhappy with the zero results! They also have OT therapy tomorrow. Tuesday Brody and Gracie have an appointment with Neurology. Wednesday Gracie has a follow up with the Orthopedic over her arm/ shoulder issue and Ricky starts his training in Sugarland. Thursday they all have an appointment with Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Gracie has her follow up with Genetics. Friday the kids have OT and Brody has VI. See, I said we would be busy.

I'll update with results from the appointments. Please keep us in your prayers as we will be traveling to the Medical Center for all the appointments. Also, Ricky too as he will be driving back in forth from Sugarland Wednesday- Friday.

Baby it's cold outside!

Finally getting some Christmas weather and I'm loving it!

Today has been such a great day. The kiddos had Occupational Therapy this morning and Brody's OMR teacher came out too. After they left, we headed to the library for story time. I didn't know what to expect so it was a little nerve racking taking them but it was wonderful! The group is for kids 0-18 months. They shake rattles, sing songs, have a story read to them, and play until the end of the "class". They did so well. It was really the first time they have been in a setting like this besides church. Of course we had to check out more books.... Madi made sure of that! We left there and met Meme for lunch. The kids pigged out on chicken nuggets, french fries, and water. We left there and went to Speech Therapy, and then home finally!
The kids are so exhausted they are snoring! Even Madi... WHOO HOO for me!
I realized yesterday that this is my last week of school for this semester. That means tons of test and work. I've got to get busy. There won't be any updates until I'm all finished.
Hope everyone is having a good week. Stay warm!

17 months old!!!!

I may or may not have mentioned two things, that Madi will not take a nap anymore and that she is in LOVE with books! The other two love books too just not like her. Anyway, in order to let the other three (Brody, Gracie & Daddy) sleep, we went for our very first trip to the LIBRARY!!!!
They have this full of card board books- perfect for their age!!

With all the choices she was squealing with excitement!

Walking like a big girl as we check out all 43... yes 43 book!
And that nap she thinks she doesn't need.... yep, falling asleep at the dinner table tonight

Look how smart my babies are!!!!

MOM, don't you see we are reading here??!!??
Madi sat in Gracie's lap, I told her to get up but she laid back and Gracie put her hand on her, and this is the way they looked at me... And then Madi started telling me her thoughts and Gracie just smiled!
I finally finished decorating... after we read books, we enjoyed the beauty of Christmas... the only lights on were on the tree! They loved it!!
I'm in LOVE with my life.... seriously, it does not get any better than this!!!!! My precious little loves!

I think we had the perfect day to mark their 17 month of life!!!!!! It just keeps getting better and better!
