Madi, today you are 36 weeks gestation and you are enjoying your first night at home!
Finally the day has come. It is very bitter sweet having Madi home. I really wish that Brody and Gracie were here too but I know it won't be long. She did great on the way home. Ricky drove and I rode with her in the back. Ricky finally got up to 65 MPH on the freeway. We got home around 7 pm. We haven't done much tonight, I've given her meds, feed her, changed her, and have held her a lot. Actually, this is the only time I haven't held her and I'm sure once I'm done with the update she will be right back in my arms :o)
She has many doctor appointments. I have to make an appointment with the Pediatrician tomorrow and she has an appointment on Friday in the Med Center to follow up on the ROP. She has her apnea monitor on her at all times. It has a really loud alarm on it and will go off if she has an apnea or bradycardia (apnea is when she stops breathing and brady is when her heart rate drops). She has not had any As and Bs in a while but it is a precaution. She is also on continuous oxygen. This is a real bummer but since she failed her car seat test without oxygen, she has to have it at all times. We don't care.... she is HOME!!!!
Brody is now 5 pounds 7 oz. I didn't get to spend a lot of time with him today because Madi's discharge took up most of the day but he also had to get a transfusion. When he is being transfused, we can't hold him. Other than him being a little anemic, he is fine.
Gracie is doing great with her bolus feeds. She is very alert these days. Ricky and I were both able to hold her today. She did great and loved it! I think she will be home by mid October if not sooner.
Ricky is off work all this week. I'm very happy about that so we can get use to Madi being home. However, the TO DO list is very long and we both have a lot to get done this week. He has an Ortho appointment tomorrow. He and I are going to switch out visiting the NICU. I'm not sure that I will be able to go a day without seeing ALL my babies so we will figure it out.
Don't forget to see the visiting requirements and please make sure you follow them.
Thanks!
Krista
