Well a long time went by and I really didn't think they were going to do anything about it but I kept on their tails. Today we pulled up to the office for the kids' RSV shots and guess what?????
I was so excited! As soon as we walked in the staff said, "Congratulations Mrs. Patton on getting the door!" I told them how happy I was and very thankful! I also added that we should do a ribbon cutting for the event :) I don't think that will happy but I'm ok with that. Our favorite nurse said she was going to call me yesterday when they installed it but saw we were coming in today. The great thing is the staff is happy this happened too. This doctor office has been here for more than 10 years and has never had a door opener.
I know some people may think I'm crazy about this but there is something about me having children with disabilities that makes me want to make this world easier (in some ways) for them. And not just my kids but other disabled people in general. I guess seeing first hand how hard things comes for them that I use to take for granted makes it my mission to fix things. If my kids are working their tail off to walk then you better believe when they can walk through a door, they won't be fighting to get it open.
Honestly, this is one of the greatest accomplishments for me this whole year!
| Madi telling all the staff at the Pedi "BYE, BYE" The staff loves the kiddos and have watched them grow so fast! We are in there every month so they've really got to see it. |
Moving on, Madi, Gracie, and Brody can all do the sign for more! I'm so proud of them! We've only been really working consistently on it for about a week. The fact that my kids' brains function and they are smart is such a wonderful thing. They are really smart and I know all the physical hardships will work out in the end.
And because I love taking pictures of my kids sleeping:
