Our OT came out today and tomorrow Speech will start back. It has been such a wonderful break and I only hope we all don't get burn out again. We will be taking Thanksgiving week and Christmas week off so that will be nice.
Brody and I made a trip to the Pediatrician's office. He had a 101.3 fever on Sunday and today. The doctor examined him and couldn't find a thing wrong with him. They even swabbed his throat and that came back negative. Dr. Leach said if he was still running a fever in 2 days to go back. Brody's OMR teacher will start working with him every other week. The OMR works with his VI teacher but focuses on his mobility related with vision. Eventually, she will teach him to use a cain.
Gracie can sit up now all by herself!!!!!! And she is making the funniest smiley faces these days. Unfortunately, her vocal cord surgery was a complete waste of time and she still really has little voice. Also, I was talking to the Pedi last week about Genetics. I told him my attitude was kind of like what's the point since there is a 50/50 chance they will ever have a diagnosis. To date with all the blood work, body scans, etc. we have nothing. Anyway, he said to please keep going because later down the road they might have answers. He said when he was in med school they use to have funny kid clinic day. Basically, it was a day that they would see kids that had little quirks. He said it was extremely awkward to point out things wrong with the kids and parents would be mad, defensive by the end of the appointment. I said that is why I hate Genetics. They even ask to take pictures of her! He said things they don't know answers to today will change tomorrow so please keep going for his selfish reasons because 3 years from now, Genetics will call him and say treat her for this or do this for her, etc. So, I will keep dealing with Genetics pointing out things "wrong" with her, and hope I can bite my tongue, not shed any tears, and keep a smile on my face. This is another reason I love Dr. Leach because he always says things like "if these were my kids (and I feel like they are)... He really cares about them and their progress. It is really unheard of in today's medical world.
Madi... oh Madi. Well, she is doing really well. I talked to OT about her still not walking and the OT told me she is doing everything she should and I shouldn't be worried. She also said she will be walking very soon. This girl is into EVERYTHING! and I do mean everything. Every room has to have the door shut because she will give me a heart attack trying to find her. She will
Speaking of story time, that and baths have become my favorite part of the day. I've started to read the The Elf on the Shelf. This will be part of our Christmas tradition every year. I know it is a little early but they catch onto things very quickly and by the time it's "time" they will understand more what the Elf is.
